PHILIPPINE BALANGHAY ASSOCIATION

At
that point, the “ordeal” began. No more talking to each other, no more joking, no
more smiling.
As
explained during the orientation, we were treated as “alipins” not to trifle our feelings nor
slight our honor, but to impart upon us the virtues of “humility”, which would be very useful
in carrying out our chosen objective of “charity”.
I
will not forget the Lakan who was very effective, shouting on top of his voice to inculcate in our minds how the lowest rank
of our society feel in times when their children are in need of medical attention, but because of poverty, they cannot avail
of the much needed medical services for their very sick children even in a government hospital.
The
lesson that we learned from, was that, all of us have the ability to change and improve ourselves; that we can do anything,
be anything that we want to be, if we are determined and if only we can believe in ourselves.
Yes,
we can help a lot the less fortunate ones, only if we commit ourselves to the noble objective of “charity’.
We
were then made to commit ourselves to the obligations of the rank of LAKANS. We were obligated to the “magnanimous
objective” of the Philippine Balanghay Association, of that to aid and assist the poor and the distressed children
needing medical attention, including the burned and the crippled, especially the orphans.
The
second session in the afternoon was equally if not more touching. The “find your life”
portion was very relevant and emotional.
And
the final moment came… a rewarding moment. It feels so good to be a Freeman… a LAKAN,
… a LAKAN ready to carry out the “magnanimous objective” of “charity”.
That
night, at home and while in bed, I tried to reminisce and analyze what transpired during the last two days of my life at the
ceremonial.
What
was done to me?
Why
these things were done to me?
What
was the relevance of these things?
One
by one, the vivid visions of the events during those two days came to my mind… the hospital visitation, the extending
of financial help to the underprivileged patients, the immersion in the pool singing the Balanghay theme song.
All
of these, I realized, direct to one reason, the “magnanimous objective” of the Philippine Balanghay
Association of … “CHARITY”.
With
this, I urge our brother masons to join us in our noble endeavour of carrying out our “magnanimous objective”.
TOGETHER
BRETHREN!

Now the one thing that changed my life was, I was informed that it was not enough to just know or just understand the lessons
of Masonry, I had to live the lessons of Masonry.
Believing this I feel that I will be “A life time Apprentice” my whole life. When the time comes to return
this physical body back to the ground from whence it came.
The soul that had lived in this body will return to God as a “Fellow Craft” and there before the
great white throne, my labors will be judged by Him.
Then and only then, when the Supreme Grand Master finds my soul as “worthy”, will I be
raised from a dead level to a living perpendicular on the angle of a square by God.
In this belief, I will live my life as “A life time Apprentice”, always trying to subdue my passions and learning
to improve myself,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
